It’s Raining Bullets From ‘Nowhere’ In This Odisha Village
Cuttack: A woman was hit in her hand by a bullet while pumping water from a tubewell at Nusasan village under Anantapur gram panchayat in Athagarh block of Odisha’s Cuttack district.
Initially, it was suspected to be an electric shock and she underwent treatment for 2 months and 20 days. The x-ray report finally revealed that she was hit by a bullet.
She told the media that bullets keep raining and there are holes in asbestos roofs of houses in the village. People are living in a state of panic and have stopped children from attending school. The village mostly wears a deserted look with people fearing to move out of their houses.
The villagers suspect that these bullets are coming from the firing range at Naraj across the Mahanadi.
Police, however, refuted it saying that it is impossible for bullets to fly such a long distance. Additional DCP said that the bullets can travel a maximum distance of 1000 yards.
Meanwhile, Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani said that Cuttack Rural SP has been asked to ascertain the reason behind such unusual happening for the last four years.
It is pertinent to mention here that there is no human habitation within 83.61 square metres of the firing range. There is also a hill nearby.
