It’s Story Time Every Saturday At 9PM By Bakul Foundation

As the currently raging pandemic makes it almost impossible for children to move out of home and visit places, let alone the Bakul Library, BAKUL has decided to come home to children and parents on their digital screens.

Having played a significant role in promoting storytelling in Bhubaneswar with regular sessions at the library and having curated and co-organised the Bhubaneswar Festival of Storytelling (BhuFeSto) during the Hockey World Cup in 2018with BDA and Odisha Tourism, BAKUL now brings Storytime @ 9. In this, every Saturday at  9pm, storytellers from different countries will come live on the Bakul Foundation page on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in an attempt to bring bedtime storytelling to digital platforms.

Bakul has been quite ambitious and is aiming for this to run for 50 weeks in which 50 storytellers from 50 different countries will tell stories from their country and also introduce their country in English. The aim is multicultural exposure. So, each month, there are different storytellers from different continents as well.
The programme started on August 1, with Geraldine Garwood from England, who had volunteered with BAKUL earlier. Today, the storyteller is Clover Bolton from the USA, who will be talking about life and culture particularly in Texas, USA. Nupur Aggarwal from India, Peter Ngugi from Kenya, and Paula Martin from Argentina are the other storytellers this month. BAKUL is trying to ensure that every month, there are storytellers from different continents.

This is the first of many digital engagements that BAKUL has been planning both for children and the general public.

Storytime @ 9 will be LIVE simultaneously on Facebook and YouTube every Saturday at 9 pm. To join the session, you need to follow/like BAKUL on either of the following social media platforms and be online on any of these handles at 9 pm on Saturday.
