Berhampur: The slum upgradation and de-listing initiative aims at improving the living conditions of the slums in Gopalpur, the tourism hub of Odisha, under stage II of JAGA Mission of the state government has put a smile on the faces of the slum-dwellers.
The initiative aims at providing piped water supply, paved roads, storm water drains, street lights, sanitation, household electricity, community spaces and recreational space to targeted areas.
Principal secretary, Housing and Urban Development department G Mathivathanan has appreciated Gopalpur NAC authority for successful implementation of the programme.
All slums in the town are being converted into Adarsh colonies and 58 persons of four slums including Sai Baba Street, NAC Colony and Harijan Street were provided land entitlement certificates (LECs). With the launch of the initiative, the slum-dwellers will also get all the benefits available to people in other areas of the urban centre, said Uma Shankar Sethy, Executive Officer, Gopalpur NAC.
