New Delhi: Jailed Delhi minister Satyendar Jain has been in the news recently for allegedly receiving special treatment in Tihar jail.
On Wednesday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader moved an application in a special court seeking media to be restrained from airing or broadcasting any CCTV footage clip of him in prison.
Special judge Vikas Dhull will take up the matter on Thursday.
The court gave Tihar jail authorities time till Monday to file a detailed report on Jain’s medical report. A report has also been sought on whether changes were made in Jain’s food and diet.
A new video surfaced on Wednesday where Jain is purportedly seen having an elaborate meal in jail. Ironically, the AAP leader claimed in court that he had lost 28 kg due to inadequate food.
Slamming Jain’s petition, BJP IT-cell head Amit Malviya said the move won’t help.
“Jailed AAP minister Satyendra Jain’s legal team moving Court to restrain CCTV footages form coming out, means the following: 1. They are trying to hide truth from coming out in public domain. 2. They lied in Court about the massage, home food and other privileges. Won’t help,” Malviya tweeted.
BJP has been in arms against AAP as Tihar jail comes under the jurisdiction of Department of Delhi Prisons, government of Delhi.
Earlier, Jain was at the receiving end after footage of him receiving an oil massage inside his prison cell surfaced ahead of civic elections.
