Jajpur PEO Death: BJP Mahila Morcha Seeks Ouster Of SCW Chairperson

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha BJP Mahila Morcha on Saturday demanded the resignation of State Commission for Women (SCW) chairperson Minati Behera over alleged slipshod investigation into the death of Smitarani Biswal, the Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) of Haridaspur panchayat in Jajpur district.

Speaking to the media here, president of Mahila Morcha Pravati Parida came down heavily on the SCW chairperson. “She could not recognize Smitarani’s husband. She completed the investigation on the basis of the statements of the accused, Rupesh Bhadra, and his sarpanch wife Madhusmita. Let the report she has submitted to the Chief Minister be made public. We demand her resignation failing which we will gherao the SCW office on Monday,” Parida said.

There was no statement from the SCW chairperson till filing of this report.
