Mumbai: Janhvi Kapoor’s ‘Mili’ is set to release on November 4. But she had a harrowing time during the filming of the survival thriller.
The actress recently recounted how the month-long film shoot affected her physical and mental health, and gave her nightmares.
‘Mili’ — directed by Mathukutty Xavier and produced by Janhvi’s father Boney Kapoor — is the Hindi remake of the same filmmaker’s 2019 Malayalam hit ‘Helen’.
Janhvi plays a girl who gets trapped inside a storage freezer for hours and is in a race against time to stay alive.
“I remember it (film) taking a genuine toll on my mental health because I would come back home after wrapping up shoot and I would go to sleep and dream that I was still in the freezer. I fell ill and I was on severe painkillers for two-three days and even the director was unwell,” revealed Sridevi’s daughter at a press conference ahead of the film’s release.
“If you spend 15 hours of your day in a freezer in a closed environment crying for the majority of the day, sometimes with a rat that keeps nibbling your fingers, it is not glamorous for sure,” Janhvi recalled.
A special freezer was built, where they shot for 20 days at minus 15 degrees Celsius temperature.
‘Mili’, which is Janhvi’s first professional collaboration with her producer dad, also features Sunny Kaushal and Manoj Pahwa in important roles.
