Jatra Artist Hit By Train While Shooting Reels On Tracks In Odisha’s Balasore, Dies On Spot
Balasore: Shooting reels on train tracks turned fatal for a young ‘Jatra’ (theatre) artist in Odisha’s Balasore district on Monday.
According to sources, the artist, identified as Akshay Patra of Banitia village under Charampa police limits of Bhadrak district, had come in Rahani village under Soro police station in Balasore a few days back.
He had come with a Jatra troupe to perform in shows and was staying with other artists in the village. He used to perform solo dance in the Jatra shows.
At around 4 pm on Monday, Akshay had gone to shoot reels on the train tracks near Sabira railway station under Soro police limits. While he was busy shooting, a train came from behind and hit him. He died on the spot, the sources said.
On being informed, police went to the accident spot and sent the body for post-mortem.
It may be noted that government agencies, including Indian Railways, have been warning the people, particularly the youths, against risking their lives by shooting selfie and reels on trains, in stations and on top of stationary trains.
