New York: We know Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is the world’s richest person. But who is the wealthiest woman on earth?
It happens to be philanthropist and author MacKenzie Scott, the ex-wife of Bezos.
Scott’s current net worth is $68 billion, and she has left past L’Oréal heiress Francoise Bettencourt Meyers in her wake, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaire index.
Scott received a quarter of Bezos’ Amazon shares when the couple divorced in 2019. That amounted to a 4% stake which was worth over $35 billion at that time, CNN reports.
A surge in tech stock gains has buoyed Scott’s volume of wealth.
Scott, now the 12th richest person in the world, announced in July she had donated nearly $1.7 billion to 116 organizations including four Black colleges and universities.
