Jewellery Worth Rs 4 Lakh Looted In Another House Robbery In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: In yet another house robbery in Bhubaneswar, jewellery and cash were looted from the residence in the absence of its owner late Tuesday night.
As per reports, Purnananda Bhoi, an Indian Railway employee and his family staying in Bhotapada under Mancheswar police limits of the city, had gone on a visit to their relatives on Tuesday. They had locked the house and the iron grill gate before their departure.
On their return home on Wednesday morning, they found the entire house messed up and the steel almirah open. When Purnananda checked the almirah, he found its locker broken open and gold jewellery worth around Rs 4 lakh and Rs 10,000 in cash missing.
Later, he filed a complaint at Mancheswar police station in this regard. He lamented lack of police patrolling in the area and said it had encouraged the miscreants to loot the house.
Meanwhile, the police have obtained the footage of the CCTV cameras installed in the area and begun an investigation.
It may be noted that two cases of loot from apartments in the city were reported on two consecutive days in January. The miscreants looted gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees from two flats in a housing complex located under the jurisdiction of Mancheswar police station in the city on January 31.
On the previous night, they targeted the Kalyan Heights apartment at Bhimpur under Pahala police station in the city. They looted three flats in the apartment which were locked as their occupants were away.
Earlier, the Commissionerate Police had busted an inter-state gang on January 18 and arrested its two members.
