JFK Airport Terminal Evacuated After Escalator Fire [Watch]
New York: A terminal at New York’s John F Kennedy (JFK) International Airport, one of the busiest in the world, had to be evacuated on Wednesday after because of an escalator fire caught fire.
New York Fire Department officials said the fire at JFK’s Terminal 8 was reported at around 7 am (4.30 pm Indian time).
No injuries were reported.

Flights of American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific and Qantas operate from Terminal 8.
Though the cause of fire is still under investigation, operations at the terminal were able to within an hour and a quarter of the fire being detected (8.15 am New York time and 5.45 IST, a spokesperson for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said.
Videos posted on X by passengers and staff from inside a stalled plane showed fire trucks swarming on the tarmac.
