It may be mentioned here that the people of Jharsuguda had demanded that the Jharsuguda airport be named after Veer Surendra Sai.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday had apprised him of the fact that the Centre was yet to issue a notification in this regard.
During the inauguration of the airport, PM Modi had announced that the airport would be named after Veer Surendra Sai as a befitting tribute to the freedom fighter.
He had dedicated the airport to the nation and flagged off a UDAN flight operated by Air Odisha on September 22.
