Jharsuguda Records 42.6°C By 11.30AM As Odisha Sizzles Under Intense Heat

Bhubaneswar: Amid rising temperatures across Odisha with the return of heatwave, Jharsuguda recorded 42.6°C by 11.30 am on Tuesday.

Similarly, state capital Bhubaneswar recorded 35.4°C by 11.30 am as the entire state sizzled under extreme heat conditions.

As per the weather agency, Jharsuguda where the day temperature had touched 45.4 degree Celsius on Monday, recorded the highest temperature at 42.6°C.

It was followed closely by Hirakud at 40°C, Sambalpur at 39.6°C, Rourkela at 39°C, Kendujhar at 36.8°C, Chandbali at 36.4°C.

In view of the ongoing heatwave, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has urged people to avoid going outside during peak hours. If it is necessary to step out, people are advised to take precautions, stay hydrated, and wear light, breathable clothing.

The IMD said that the day temperature is expected to rise by 3-5°C during the next 3 days. The mercury may rise and cross 40°C in twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack after 3-4 days, it added.
