Jajpur: A youth attacked a girl with a sharp weapon and later injured himself over one sided love at Bandhadiha village in Jajpur on Monday. The accused has been identified as Ganeshwar Sahu.
Locals spotted the couple in a pool of blood and informed their family members. They were rushed to a nearby hospital in Dharmashala first, then the girl was shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack in a deteriorated condition.
According to sources, Ganeshwar loved the girl but she did not reciprocate his feelings. There was a dispute between Ganeshwar and the victim’s family members over this.
On Monday, Ganeshwar called the girl to a temple in the village. They had a heated argument, following which he attacked the girl with a sharp weapon. Then in a bid to commit suicide, he stabbed himself.
The girl’s family members have lodged a complaint at the Dharmashala police station.
