Mumbai: ‘Udaan’ fame television actress Malvi Malhotra was stabbed mercilessly by a jilted lover after she rejected his marriage proposal, said police sources on Tuesday.
According to a PTI report, the incident took place in Versova area of suburban Andheri at around 9 pm on Monday.
Reportedly, the actress was on her way home from a café when the accused, Yogesh Mahipal Singh stopped her and got into a heated argument with her over being rejected.
The accused apparently lost his cool and stabbed Malvi with a knife in the abdomen and on both hands and fled from the crime scene.
Following the brutal attack, the actress was rushed to a private hospital where she is currently undergoing treatment.
“We have registered an FIR against Singh under various Indian Penal Code sections, including 307 (attempt to murder), and are conducting an investigation into the case,” Raghvendra Thakur, senior inspector at Versova police station was quoted as saying by PTI.
During the investigation, Malvi told police that she knew Singh for the last one year. The actress also revealed that the accused wanted to marry her, but got offended when she rejected his proposal.
