Under Project SNEH, Jindal Foundation has been providing dry rations and cooked food to the needy and underprivileged across India, with focus on districts with a tribal majority.
Saroj Panda, DFO Wildlife, Satkosia, inaugurated the programme in the presence of CDMO Angul Dr Sibananda Mohanty, SDVO from office of CDVO, Angul Dr Keshav Chandra Pradhan, senior journalist Bijaya Mishra, sarpanch Saudamini Pradhan, Satkosia Biodiversity Conservation president Ananta Basudev Mohanty and prominent local leaders including Dileswar Pradhan, Prakash Chandra Pradhan, Dola Behera and Nilakantha Behera.
Jindal Foundation extended the initiative to the periphery villages of Satkosia Tiger Sanctuary in collaboration with the Forest department. The aim is to address nutrition challenges faced by families resettled outside the core sanctuary area. It will also support the broader strategy of alleviating human-wildlife conflict.
More than 700 families have been identified in the village which will receive dry rations rich in macro and micronutrients in the initial phase.
Chairperson of Jindal Foundation Shallu Jindal thanked the Forest department and the Jindal Foundation team for this noble initiative.
“Forest geographies are the lungs of our Mother Earth, and the forest dwellers, who have a symbiotic existence with the forest eco-system, are the ultimate protectors of these precious natural resources. I am sure that this initiative of the Jindal Foundation will holistically nourish the lives of forest dwellers in the region,” said Shallu.
Jindal Foundation flagged off an awareness tableau on dengue and malaria, for effective prevention and management strategies of these diseases in the vulnerable region. Sports equipment was also distributed to local youth volunteers who are actively contributing to the programme’s grassroots implementation.
“In coming days, Jindal Foundation will also explore rolling out the Kishori Express to eliminate anaemia among girls and the Swosti Express to extend geriatric care in these villages as envisioned by our Chairperson of Jindal Foundation,” said Prashant Hota, President and Group Head of CSR of Jindal Steel & Power.
