Angul: Jindal Foundation, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of Jindal Steel and Power (JSP), has launched an awareness campaign against early child marriage.
It aims to educate the local community about dangers of child marriage and encourage efforts to stop this illegal practice in Odisha’s Angul district.
District collector Abdaal Akhtar officially launched the awareness tableau in the presence of additional district magistrate Pratap Pritimaya, district social welfare officer Nirupama Pani, district child protection officer Gouri Shankar Behera, other ICDS staff and members of the Jindal Foundation.
The collaborative effort seeks to raise awareness about the benefits of marrying at the right age, emphasising better health, education and future opportunities for young girls.
The awareness tableau will travel through several villages and towns, delivering important messages and audio content. The focus of the campaign is on strict laws against child marriage and harmful effects it has on the health, education and overall development of children, especially young girls.
The awareness tableau is a significant step towards building a more informed and equitable society by educating and engaging the public.
Jindal Foundation has also been encouraging underprivileged girls to go for higher education of their choice under the Yashasvi programme.
