New Delhi: In a laudable gesture reflecting their patriotism, every employee of Jindal Steel has contributed one day’s salary to collectively raise Rs 2 crore for the Armed Forces Battle Casualties Welfare Fund.
The fund will support welfare of soldiers and their families impacted in the line of duty.
It comes in the wake of resounding success of Operation Sindoor, which destroyed terror infrastructure at several locations in Pakistan and PoK.
The cheque was handed over by Jindal Steel Chairman Naveen Jindal to Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Thursday, stated a Jindal Steel press release
“Our soldiers are the true sentinels of our nation. Their courage, sacrifice, and steadfast commitment to protecting India inspire us all. This contribution from the Jindal Steel family is a humble gesture to honour their service and to stand firmly with them and their loved ones,” said Jindal.
This is not the first time that Jindal Steel has stood with the nation in moments of crisis and need.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the company contributed Rs 25 crore to the PM-CARES Fund, supplied free oxygen to hospitals in Delhi, Odisha and Chhattisgarh, distributed meals and PPE kits, upgraded medical facilities, and supported women’s self-help groups in producing over 100,000 protective masks. In 2013, the company provided relief and essential supplies to disaster-hit regions after the Uttarakhand (Kedarnath) tragedy.
