Angul: The third edition of Jindal Steel Premier League, an inter-departmental cricket tournament at the Angul Unit, concluded with an exciting final.
A total of 42 teams from various departments participated in the tournament, which was held from January 23 to February 4.
In the final, Juggernauts edged past Extreme Steel by 15 runs.
Asked to bat first, Juggernauts scored 123. In reply, Extreme Steel scored 108 for 8 wickets.
Angul unit Executive Director Pankaj Malhan and Executive Director, Iron Zone Damodar Mittal presented trophies to the teams.
Juggernauts team members Chinmay Sahoo won the Man of the Match award, Aditya Narayan was Best Batsman and Saroj Garnayak Best Allrounder.
Extreme Steel’s Amit Sah was adjudged Man of the Series, and Soumyakanta Nayak received the Best Bowler award.
The tournament was inaugurated by chief guest Hridayswar Jha, Executive Director (Special Projects), and guest of honour Biju Nair, Advisor – Iron Zone.
During the tournament, friendly matches were organised to encourage participation among the ladies’ workforce and housewives. Seema Malhan and Anita Mittal, president of Jindal Mahila Samiti, joined the matches to motivate and support the women players.
The senior management of the company ensured successful conduct of the tournament.
