Jitendra Mishra’s co-production ‘Buried Seeds’ picked for 74th Venice Film Festival

Jitendra Mishra’s co-production film ‘Buried Seeds’ – Vikas Khanna will be screened at the 74th Venice Film Festival. The film directed by Russian filmmaker Andrei Severny, celebrates the journey of Celebrity Chef Vikas Khanna from a small town in Punjab to the US.

The film had a special screening in Venice-Days at Giornate degli Autori on September 6. The chef himself showcased 70 dishes from India to celebrate 70 years of the country’s Independence. The first look of the film was released earlier during Cannes Film Festival this year.

Master Chef judge Vikas Khanna is an award-winning Michelin-starred Indian chef and cookbook writer based in New York. He has been named as the Sexiest Men Alive and “The Hottest Chef of America”. He has written a 1,200-page book ‘Utshav’ that took him 12 years to compile. The book is described as the “world’s largest compilation of festivals, ceremonies, rituals and foods that symbolise India and its resplendent heritage”.

Celebrity Chef Vikas Khanna

‘Buried Seeds’ is a timeless inspiring story of struggle, passion, willpower, failure and rise shown through Vikas Khanna’s eyes. The maker of the film ‘Andrei Severny’ is an award winning Russian contemporary filmmaker, screenwriter, photographer and visual artist known for films like Inside Risk: Shadows of Medellin, Gravitation: Variation in Time and Space, Condition, Teaching to See and Tom on Mars.

Odisha-born Jitendra Mishra is one of the few Indian film producers and promoters who have been able to create a benchmark in ‘Alternative method of Film Production, Distribution & Promotion’ at international level. Known for path-breaking films like I am Kalam, Desires of the Heart, Gattu & Kajarya, he has also designed and currently serving as the festival director of the SIFFCY for Smile Foundation.

Committed to meaningful cinema, Jitendra has been associated only with socially relevant films, which are a balance of the right content and creativity with an objective to get meaningful cinema out there for everyone and to encourage such filmmakers. He has already been associated with production, distribution and promotion of more than 110 films in all categories. Many of them have got worldwide acclamation and recognition.

With ‘Son of Odisha’ and ‘Young Jury’ awards under his belt, Jitendra has been a member of Cannes Producers Network for last many years and selected as Jury to many leading international film festivals and forums.
