Bhubaneswar: Close on the heels of a fake job racket busted by police in Airfield area of the city, another fraud placement agency operated by an unmarried couple from Dhauli has come to light.
According to police sources, one Bijay Pradhan of Raikia in Phulbani district had contacted Saroj Jena of Jagatsinghpur regarding a police job advertised by the latter’s agency.
Assuring Bijay of the job, Saroj allegedly asked him to pay Rs 5 lakh for his services. After Bijay gave Rs 1.08 lakh as initial payment, Saroj avoided him for a long time. Suspecting the intention of Saroj, Bijay filed a complaint at Dhauli police station. Another person from Sundargarh district had also filed a similar complaint against Saroj with the police.
Following investigation into the complaints, Dhauli Police arrested Saroj from his village in Jagatsinghpur. But Saroj’s girlfriend, who was reportedly involved in the racket, managed to escape.
Police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
It may noted that police had arrested Mahammed Ansari from the area under Airfield police station for allegedly duping 14 job aspirants of Rs 10.65 lakh on November 24 last year.
