Washington: Joe Biden was given a majority of its votes by the Electoral College on Monday and confirmed his victory in the last month’s Presidential election. This had an added importance this time as President Donald Trump refused to concede defeat, reported news agency AP.
Fifty-five electoral votes from California put Biden over the top and cleared the 270-vote mark that affirmed he will be the United State’s next president.
The results will be sent to Washington and tallied in Congress’ January 6 joint session which will be presided over by Vice President Mike Pence.
In Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — the six battleground states that the democrat won and Trump contested — electors gave Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris their votes on Monday in low-key proceedings, according to the AP report.
