Journalist Allegedly ‘Fat-Shamed’ By Emirates Staff At Delhi Airport

New Delhi: The Emirates staff allegedly ‘fat-shamed’ a journalist at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. In a post on X on April 9, the scribe, Srishti claimed that the staff not only misbehaved with her but also allotted her a non-reclining seat on an overnight journey.

Upset with their behaviour, Srishti said that she was “in tears” as she boarded the flight.

“This is 2024, and I can’t believe this still happens,” Srishti said, adding, “I was fat shamed by @emirates staff at New Delhi airport. Not only they misbehaved with me, but gave me a non-reclining seat on an overnight journey. As I board the flight, I’m in tears, yet their ground staff is rude.”

As her post went viral, Srishti received a whole lot of support in the comments section, while Emirates was slammed by several sections, the report added.

“It’s not something you expect from @emirates. I have always heard such good things about their hospitality. Hope you are feeling better,” a user said.

“This is terrible. I am so sorry that Emirates behaved in this manner towards you. Apologies, and please escalate this matter,” another comment reads, while most others described the episode as “disgusting”.

Most X users were appalled at Emirates’s behaviour, which was termed “horrible”.

“Totally believable. Emirates may be a great airline, but their air hostesses are rude and very cut short people. They don’t bother one bit about passenger comfort.”
