Bhubaneswar: A triple-storey building, a market complex and a Kalyan Madap along with four plots were unearthed by the Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Monday during raids on a junior account in the office of DM of Odisha State Civil Supply Corporation Ltd in Sundargarh, Rabindra Kumar Barik, over allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
These apart, gold weighing around 175 gram were also seized.
According to a Vigilance release, simultaneous house searches are being conducted by teams led by 3 DSPs, 6 inspectors, and other supporting staff on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore, at 5 places, including his office and residential house, in Balasore and Sundargarh districts.
Assets found in the name of Barik and his family members are as follows:
(1) Residential triple-storey building over 3550 sqft area at Gopalgaon in Balasore
(2) Triple-storey market complex over 6300 sqft area at Gopalgaon, Balasore, given on rent for a hotel, real estate office and gym.
(3) Kalyan Mandap at Balasore.
(4) Four valuable plots in and around Balasore town.
(5) 175 gram gold
(6) A four wheeler (KA Sonet) and 2 two-wheelers.
The release further stated that bank, postal deposits and other investments are being ascertained. The measurement and valuation/assessment of the buildings, Kalyan Mandap and plots are being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing.
Barik had entered government service in November 1995 as a junior accountant in the Civil Supplies Office, Bhadrak, with a monthly salary of Rs 5,400, it added.
