New Delhi: The process of construction of a new building to replace the dilapidated 114-year-old building of a girls’ school in Mathura, being supported by JSPL Foundation, kicked off on Sunday with the foundation-laying ceremony and Bhumi Pujan.
Chairperson JSPL Foundation Shallu Jindal attended the ceremony through virtual mode.
“Empowering the girl child with education is the best and the wisest option a nation could have in empowering itself. With the construction of new building of the historic 114-year-old Kishori Raman Girls’ Inter College, we are partnering for promotion of girls’ education and contributing to expand the horizon of equitable and inclusive development of India,” Shallu Jindal said.
Sri Kishori Raman Girls’ Inter College is a pioneer in promoting education of girl children, especially from the economically weaker, lower and lower middle strata of the society in the region. The over century-old building is in a dangerous condition.
The new anti-seismic school building will be constructed over 30,000 sq ft, with modern amenities, good quality toilets, and a ramp for divyang. It will house 5000 girl children in two shifts.
The school building is being designed, detailed and executed with technical inputs from JSPL Architecture-Construction and JRL Sonipat, a building and construction wing of JSPL. Construction work is expected to be completed within a year.
Under the leadership of Shallu Jindal and guidance of Naveen Jindal, JSPL Foundation has been working for the cause of empowerment of women and education of children, especially from rural and vulnerable communities.
