Jaipur: Rajasthan police lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against a judicial magistrate for allegedly asking a gangrape survivor to take off her clothes and show her injuries in court.
Ravindra Kumar, judicial magistrate of Hindaun city court, has been booked under Section 345 (wrongful confinement) of IPC and relevant provisions of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act (SC/ST Act) as the complainant is a Dalit woman, reported Bar and Bench.
The incident took place on March 30, when the woman went to record her statement in a case.
She stated that Kumar asked her to strip so that he could inspect her injuries. However, she replied that she couldn’t take off her clothes in front of him.
“The magistrate had called me to take my statement. I gave my full statement. As I was coming out he called me back and asked me to take off my clothes. When I said why should I take off my clothes, he said that he wanted to see the injury marks on my body. I said I can’t open my clothes in front of you and if madam were there, I would have taken off my clothes,” the FIR stated.
