Ganjam: A day after recovery of an elephant carcass in Dhenkanal district, a jumbo calf was found dead in North Ghumusar range of Odisha’s Ganjam district on Monday.
According to sources, forest officials recovered the carcass near Gambhirigochha village of Mujagad area after being informed by locals. The calf was reportedly part of a 22-member elephant herd that had been wandering in the area for the last few days. The reason for its death is yet to be ascertained.
Forest officials have started an investigation into its death and will send the samples of the carcass for postmortem.
