Jumbo Calf Rescued From Water In Odisha’s Angul
Angul: Forest department officials Sunday rescued an elephant calf which had strayed away from its herd before entering Manjore dam.
The calf was part of a 15-member herd which was crossing the dam in Athamalik sub-division near Manjore when the baby was trapped in water.
Local fishermen who spotted the jumbo calf tried to recue it with the help of Forest department personnel. It took about four hours before the calf was rescued to safety.
The Forest personnel escorted the baby elephant to its mother in the presence of Madhapur forest officer. The calf is stated to be in perfect physical condition, said the officials.
