Tangi: A stray herd of 22 elephants ravaged houses and standing paddy
crops at Haripur village under Tangi block in Khurda district on
Sunday.
According to reports, the elephants entered into the human settlement
and went on destroyed houses in the locality and damaging crops in the
nearby agricultural field.
“The forest department should take concrete measures immediately to
keep elephants away from the human habitations”, one of the villagers
said.
Forest personnel, who reached the spot after receiving information
regarding the incident, said efforts are underway to drive the
elephants away and to prevent jumbo menace in the area.
