Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday directed the state administration to remain prepared to tackle all possible disasters.
Chairing a meeting through video-conferencing, the CM said the state administration must remain prepared for all disasters keeping in mind the principle that ‘every life is precious’. Odisha has strengthened its disaster management mechanism over the years and emerged ahead of others in this regard, he added.
Naveen said that the period from June to October is crucial when many natural disasters strike such as floods, cyclones and droughts. Sometimes, a cyclone and flood can come together, he added, while pointing out the need to strengthen the disasters management response.
All emergency response systems, rescue and relief work, drinking water systems, health and animal care systems must be kept ready all the time, he said. The CM urged all ODRAF and Fire Services personnel to stay prepared.
