Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Poice on Saturday arrested a junior clerk for allegedly duping around 300 job seekers from different parts of Odisha.
As per reports, Bibhuti Mishra, who works as a junior clerk in Rural Development department at Ranpur in Nayagarh district, used to lure the unemployed youths by promising them appointment in government posts. He was convincing the aspirants with duplicate letter pads and stamps of the government.
After collecting money from the job aspirants, he was handing over duplicate appointment letters and service books. He was running a fake consultancy firm, Anchalika Nijukti Suchana Kendra (Regional Appointment Information Centre) in Cuttack. He had appointed several agents to target young boys and girls in search of jobs.
The agents were luring the aspirants by promising to make arrangements to appoint them to different prestigious posts including junior engineer, SDO and assistant engineers. They were collecting huge amount in exchange of the jobs. The racket was running since 2014.
After being duped by Bibhuti, one of the job aspirants, Pitabas Sahu, had filed a complaint at Laxmisagar police station in Bhubaneswar. Pitabas alleged that Bibhuti had duped him of Rs 15 lakh by promising government job.
Following investigation into the complaint, the police arrested Bibhuti.
