Bhubaneswar: Odisha boys showed great fighting spirit to make a winning start in the 15th Hockey India Junior Men’s National Championship being held in Punjab.
Trailing till five minutes into the final quarter, Odisha scored twice within a minute to turn the tables on Karnataka and emerge 2-1 victors in the Pool D fixture of Division ‘A’.
After Nitesh Sharma handed Karnataka the lead in the 37th minute, Ritik Lakra (50’) and Aryan Xess (51’) found the mark in quick succession for Odisha.
Ritik was adjudged Player of the Match.
On Monday, Odisha will take on Andhra Pradesh in their final Pool D game. Two teams from each pool will advance to the quarterfinals.
