New Delhi: A diner said he was left appalled after spotting what appeared to be a maggot inside a piece of deep-fried chicken from a KFC outlet in Greater Noida West.
The complaint surfaced on X from a user who goes by @averycommonman1, who posted images and videos purportedly showing the insect lodged within the fried chicken. He said the discovery was made at KFC’s Gaur City Mall outlet in Uttar Pradesh’s Greater Noida West.
The incident, he said, occurred on September 5.
“Horrible @KFC_India. Just got an insect inside your deep-fried chicken, seriously not acceptable at all,” he wrote in the post.
The footage shared online shows what looks like a maggot embedded in the chicken piece, a sight made more disturbing by the fact that the item was served as ready-to-eat food.
The post spread rapidly on X, with the alleged find triggering sharp reactions from users. It also drew a direct response from KFC India., as reported by India Today.
KFC Apologises
“Hi, our apologies for the disappointment caused. Please drop in your order ID so our team can contact you to address your concern,” KFC India said in its response.
The company has not publicly stated what the object was or offered an explanation for how it may have ended up in the chicken, as reported by India Today.
Following the viral clip, a team from the Food Safety Department visited the KFC outlet and began an inspection.
Food Safety officer Sarvesh Kumar said inspectors visited the outlet and tried to reach the individual who had shared the video. He added that a detailed check of the premises is underway, covering food quality and related arrangements, and that any subsequent steps will depend on what the probe reveals.
