Mumbai: ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, one of Indian cinema’s most iconic love stories starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, has been featured in a recent post by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The film was included in a curated list of favourite romance movies centred around travel.
The Academy shared stills from films such as ‘You Me and Tuscany’, ‘The Holiday’, ‘Eat Pray Love’, and ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, and asked followers on X, “What’s your favourite romance film that involves travel?”
The post quickly grabbed Kajol’s attention, and she reshared it with a simple response, “I vote for DDLJ.”

The Academy, which oversees the Academy Awards, often highlights international films on its social media platforms, including several from India.
The iconic film marked 30 years since its release last year, with Shah Rukh and Kajol celebrating the milestone in a special way.
The duo travelled to London to unveil a bronze statue inspired by their iconic pose from the film at Leicester Square, a first for an Indian movie.
Directed by Aditya Chopra, DDLJ is one of the most cherished films in Indian cinema, with its characters Raj and Simran continuing to hold a special place in the audience’s hearts.
It also holds the record as the longest-running film in the world, still drawing viewers to Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir.
The story follows Raj and Simran, two NRIs who fall in love during a trip in Europe. When Simran returns to India for an arranged marriage, Raj follows her in a bid to win over her traditional family and earn her father’s approval.
“There’s a piece of DDLJ in almost every romantic film that came after it, because somewhere, history was made, and it never quite left us. For me, Simran is a chapter that refuses to end. She represents millions of girls across this country – girls who want to do what their parents say, who carry tradition in one hand but still reach out for freedom with the other. That’s why she still resonates. Every time someone says, ‘Ja Simran, ja’, it signifies the belief that courage and love can coexist,” Kajol said ahead of unveiling the statue in London.
