Bhubaneswar: Kalinga Stadium has incurred losses to the tune of Rs 11 crore because of cyclone Fani, Odisha sports secretary Vishal Dev said after the Centre’s inter-ministerial Team conducted an on-the-spot assessment of damage to the hockey stadium on Wednesday.

He said a lift and the roof of the athletic stadium, completely damaged in the cyclone, needs replacement. There is also damage to the turf and ground.

“Restoration work needs to be carried out on a war footing ahead of the FIH Men’s Series Final 2019 scheduled from June 6 at Kalinga Stadium,” Dev said.

Dev had accompanied the Centre’s delegation.
