Paralakhemundi: Kalyani Gajapati, daughter of Late Gopinath Gajapati Narayan Dev, was coronated as the first queen of Paralakhemundi at a ceremony at the royal palace here on Saturday.
The royal priest conducted her coronation during a special ritual.

Notably, Gopinath Gajapati had passed away in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Friday. Later, his mortal remains were brought to Paralakhemundi.
As the last rites of a king have to be performed as per the royal tradition, the funeral was performed at the palace backyard after the queen gave the order soon after her coronation.
