Bhubaneswar: A joint team of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) along with Commissionerate Police sealed Kanak Banquet Hall at Panchasakha Nagar, Baramunda, in the Odisha capital for allegedly violating various norms.
According to sources, Rajarani and Maa Tarini mandaps at Pandra could not be sealed as marriage ceremony and food cooking process was on at these places.
As directed by ZDC (North), the team imposed Rs 10,000 fine on each mandap.
The team found a similar situation at Manjula Mandap, GGP Colony, and collected a fine of Rs. 50,000 as directed by ZDC (North), the sources added.
On Tuesday, two Kalyan Mandaps — Somanath resort at Sundarpada and Gokhibaba Kalyani Mandap at Kapila Prasad — were sealed.
On Monday, the joint team had sealed 10 Kalyan Mandaps, hotels and community centres in the city. One among them was reportedly operating from the premises of Pandit Nilakantha College of Library and Information Science near Janata Maidan.
These venues did not have building plan approvals from BDA, fire safety certificates, trade licences and were not paying holding tax. Besides, these had been creating traffic chaos in the city.
