Mumbai: Kangana Ranaut took to her Instagram handle recently to shower praises on the Mahakumbh sensation Monalisa and throw shade on the film industry for not having ‘dark dusky’ actors.
Monalisa, who shot to fame overnight because of her beautiful eyes and enchanting looks, is being harassed for photos by visitors at the Mahakumbh, and Kangana is not quite happy about it.
Sharing a picture of Monalisa, Kangana wrote, “This young girl Monalisa has become an internet sensation for her natural beauty, as much as I hate people harassing her for pictures and interviews I can’t help but think do we have dark dusky Indian tone female representation in glamour world anymore? Are people loving young actresses how they loved Anu Agarwal, Kajol, Bipasha, Deepika or Rani Mukerji?”
She added, “Why all actress look as pale as a white woman including those were dark in younger days? Why people don’t identify newcomers the way they identify with Monalisa? Too much laser and glutathione injections?”
On the work front, Kangana was last seen in ‘Emergency,’ which was also her directorial debut. She played the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and the story revolved around the period of emergency.
The film, which was released in theatres on January 17, received mixed reviews and failed to impress cine goers.
