Mumbai: After calling out nepotism in the film industry, actress Kangana Ranaut has made more foes than friends in Bollywood, yet she never misses a chance to take a dig at the star kids.
Amid reports of Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Jigra’ tanking at the box-office, Kangana was quick to share a cryptic post on her Instagram handle. “When you destroy women-centric films and make sure that they don’t work, they don’t work, even when you make them. Read that again. Thanks,” she wrote.
Released on October 11, ‘Jigra’ managed to mint just Rs 4.25 crore on its opening day at the domestic box-office. It is reported to be Alia’s lowest opening since her 2014 ‘Highway’.
While Kangana didn’t mention any name in her cryptic post, but her reference to women-centric film made it evident that it was for the ‘Jigra’ actress.
Alia’s ‘Jigra’ is a women-centric film that revolves around a brave sister who moves heaven and earth to free her brother, played by Vedang Raina, from prison.
Earlier also, before the release of Alia’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, Kangana had mocked the lead actress calling her ‘Papa Ki Pari’ and “romcom bimbo.”
However, despite Kangana’s criticism and mockery, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ turned out to be a hit.
Co-produced by Alia’s Eternal Sunshine Productions and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, ‘Jigra’ is directed by Vasan Bala. Besides Alia and Vedang, the film also stars Manoj Pahwa and Rahul Ravindran in important roles.
Interestingly, Kangana’s film Emergency has faced several delays, and the new release date hasn’t been announced yet.
