Mumbai: Karan Johar has had enough of Twitter.
The filmmaker quit the microblogging site on Monday, explaining his decision.
“Making space for more positive energies only and this is step one towards that. Goodbye Twitter!” Johar tweeted before deleting his Twitter account.
Johar had said in a recent interview that some people from the film industry were being ‘negative’ about ‘Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva’ after the likes of director Vivek Agnihotri and actor-producer Kangana Ranaut questioned the box office figures of the Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt-starrer.
The controversial Johar, who netizens love to hate, was not spared even after bidding goodbye to the social media platform.
There were a handful of sweet goodbye posts, but not for the first time, Johar was largely trolled with rude and sarcastic messages, including memes.
“You won’t be missed,” one user wrote, while another thanked him for leaving Twitter.
“Good riddance!! Make space for more positive energies in Bollywood also. You know what to do,” was another response.
He also got lectured on mental health, with one tweet saying: “Focus on your mental health and Brahmastra part 2. Good luck. Sending positivity.”
Another person also tweeted (in Hindi): “He will delete this account and start using an unknown account.”
