Mumbai: Karan Johar’s infamous 2019 party video being widely circulated has nothing to do with the Bollywood-drug mafia nexus controversy.
A Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) official has clarified that the video is not under the scanner, reported Hindustan Times (HT).
Speaking to reporters, Deputy Director-General of NCB, Mutha Ashok Jain, said the video had nothing to do with the present case. The video shows moments from Karan’s house party with Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Arjun Kapoor, Malaika Arora and others. The clip became viral after several social media users shared it, believing that the stars looked intoxicated on drugs.
On Saturday, Karan Johar took to Twitter on the allegations against him. Read his statement.
“Certain news channels, print/ electronic media and social media platform(s) are wrongly and misleadingly reporting that narcotics were consumed at a party that I, Karan Johar hosted on July 28, 2019 at my residence.
I had already clarified my position way back in 2019 that the allegations were false.
In view of the current malicious campaign, I am reiterating that the allegations are completely baseless and false. No narcotics substance was consumed in the party. I WOULD LIKE TO UNEQUIVOCALLY ONCE AGAIN STATE THAT I DO NOT CONSUME NARCOTICS AND I DO NOT PROMOTE OR ENCOURAGE CONSUMPTION OF ANY SUCH SUBSTANCE.
