New Delhi: The Karnataka High Court heard actor Ranveer Singh’s plea on Tuesday in the ‘Kantara’ mimicry case and asked him to apologise and submit an affidavit.

According to a Live Law report, Ranveer told the court that he is ready to file an affidavit with an unconditional apology and also visit Chamundi temple.

During the hearing, advocate Prashant Methal, who is representing the complainant, said the actor’s earlier apology was not sincere and posted by his team.

“Ranveer Singh’s apology was not a heartfelt apology… Because he has tweeted his apology from the handle run by his managers,” advocate Methal told the court.

Ranveer’s lawyer, senior advocate Sajan Poovayya, told the court that they will submit the affidavit and that the actor is willing to apologise and visit the temple.

The court said Ranveer should show genuine regret and remember that his position as an actor has a strong influence.

Earlier, Ranveer had shared an apology on Instagram, saying his intention was to praise Rishab Shetty’s performance in ‘Kantara’, and that he respects all cultures and traditions. He also said sorry if he hurt anyone’s sentiments.

“My intention was to highlight Rishabh’s incredible performance in the film. Actor to actor, I know how much it would take to perform that particular scene in the way that he did, for which he has my utmost admiration. I have always deeply respected every culture, tradition and belief in our country. If I’ve hurt anyone’s sentiments, I sincerely apologise,” Ranveer had posted on his Instagram handle.

Ranveer mimicked Rishab’s expressions from ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ during the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa last November, and mistakenly referred to the daivas as “ghosts.”

After an FIR was filed against him, Ranveer approached the Karnataka High Court to challenge it.
