New Delhi: The Supreme Court, on Monday, has agreed to hear two separate petitions filed in connection with the Kathua rapa case.

While a petition was filed by Kathua-based lawyer Deepika Singh Rajawat, alleging she was being threatened for pursuing the case of an eight-year-old girl who was gangraped and killed, another plea filed by Delhi-based lawyer Anuja Kapur, seeking transfer of the case from Kathua trial court to a local court in Delhi.

Accepting the submission forwarded by senior advocate Indira Jaising for an urgent hearing, a bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud considered the submission and will be hearing the petition on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Kathua trial began at the local district court in Kathua and the next date of hearing is scheduled on April 28.

“Court directed that chargesheet should be provided to all accused. We are reaydy for narco tests,” Ankur Sharma, counsel for accused was quoted by ANI.

In January, an eight year old girl went missing and her body was found a week later. She was allegedly drugged and raped repeatedly inside the temple premises and later crushed to death with stones.
