Bhubaneswar: A special team of Commissionerate Police has arrested the key coordinator between Institute of Technical Education & Research (ITER) and fake placement agencies. The accused, identified as Vikas Lunayach, was nabbed from his house in Gurugram on June 27 and brought to Bhubaneswar on transit remand, police commissioner Y B Khurania told medipersons on Thursday.
“Vikas, an MBA graduate, was present during a number of fake placement drives held in the state capital. He is being interrogated and we are trying to extract information about involvement of more people in the racket,” he said.
ITER additional dean (placement) Raj Kishore Hota was arrested in connection with the fake placement row on May 26. Police also arrested Manas Ranjan Nayak on June 2 for allegedly coordinating the entire fake placement process through his agency.
The matter came to light after 400 students of the institution alleged that they have been given fake offer letters from companies like Intel, Mitsubishi and Honeywell. The students and their guardians also staged a massive demonstration before the college, demanding immediate action against those involved in the racket.
