Jaipur: Bhubaneswar’s KIIT did Odisha proud by striking gold in both men’s and women’s rugby competitions at the Khelo India University Games (KIUG) 2025 being held in Rajasthan.
In the rugby finals on Friday at Ajmer, KIIT boys were made to fight hard before edging out Chandigarh University 15-10 in extra time. It was KIIT’s maiden gold in men’s rugby event of KIUG.

In the women’s final too, KIIT faced Chandigarh and triumphed 15-7 for their third title in KIUG.
Odisha tasted success in other sports too. Weightlifter Maganti Keerthi clinched gold in women’s 86 kg category by lifting a total of 186 kg.

The swimmers bagged a couple of bronze medals through the efforts of Ayushree Dutta in 1500m freestyle and Divyanka Dibyajyoti Pradhan in 100m breaststroke.
On Thursday, weightlifter Rima Bhoi struck gold in women’s 58 kg category.
