Bhubaneswar: Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology Deemed to be University (KIIT-DU) has been adjudged as the best university for promotion of sports at the Sportstar Aces Awards 2025, held in Mumbai on Friday.
KIIT & KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta, who received the award in the presence of eminent sports personalities like Viswanathan Anand, expressed his gratitude to Sportstar for choosing KIIT-DU for the second time, after 2022, for the prestigious award.
KIIT and KISS are known for working towards comprehensive development of sports and nurturing sportspersons. The university has produced 23 Olympians, 3 Paralympians, 11 Arjuna awardees and one Khel Ratna awardee, which drew the attention of jury members of Sportstar Aces Award.
KIIT-DU has been honoured with several sports accolades over the years, like ‘Best Sports Facility’ award in the first CII Sports Business Awards 2023, ‘Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar 2022’ by Indian government, ‘FICCI India Sports Award 2022’, ‘Sportstar Aces Award 2022’ by the Hindu group and ‘Biju Patnaik Sports Award 2019’ for best sontribution for promotion of sports and games by the Odisha government.
World-class sports infrastructure of KIIT & KISS, combined with the expertise of its international coaches, has produced over 200 athletes who have represented India at the Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and other international events, and won several medals for the country.
So far, KIIT and KISS have nurtured more than 5000 athletes of regional, national and international repute by virtue of its advanced state-of-the-art sporting infrastructure.
