Bhubaneswar: Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) student Indrani Chhatria has been chosen the captain of Odisha Women’s U-19 cricket team.
This is for the first time a student from KISS has got captainship of the Odisha girls’ Cricket team. Indrani will lead the Odisha team in the Under-19 Women T-20 tournaments.
Another KISS student, Sonali Hembram has also found place in the Odisha team.
The Odisha team will play their first league match on October 14 against Manipur.
The other scheduled matches are with Tripura on October 15, Mumbai on October 18, Delhi on October 20, Maharashtra on October 21 and Arunachal Pradesh on October 23.
The super league match will start on October 27. The final match will be held on November 4, 2018.
Congratulating both Indrani and Sonali, KIIT and KIIS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta said it is a matter of pride that two students of KISS have been selected in the Odisha U-19 girls’ cricket team and one of them has become captain of the team.
“It was my dream that students of KISS should play national and international games. The right atmosphere for sports and proper care in KISS are encouraging more and more students to be part of different national and international sports and games and get success,” he added.
