Bhubaneswar: Following the arrest of his wife, Mahanga police station IIC Nihar Ranjan Mohanty appeared at the Vigilance office here on Saturday.
His wife, Rayagada Excise superintendent Nina Beura, has been arrested for possessing Rs 6 lakh unaccountable cash after being intercepted around 11.30 pm the previous night when on her way to Bhubaneswar from Rayagada. When officials of the anti-corruption agency reached his residence at Mahanga for searches, they found it locked. Mohanty was then directed to appear at the Vigilance office in Bhubaneswar.
The IIC refuted knowing about the Vigilance raid on assets following the arrest of his wife. “Vigilance could have informed me yesterday. I came to know about the development today only after Additional SP contacted me. I was searching for my wife as I could not contact her,” he told the media.
