Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday decided to allow home isolation for asymptomatic/mildly symptomatic COVID-19 patients in 114 Urban Local Bodies, district headquarters/sub-divisional/block headquarters with compliance to certain health protocols.
The government notification attributed the decision to ensure judicious use of resources to effectively fight this pandemic. It further said that the MoHFW has also recommended home isolation of mild/ asymptomatic patients in view of the beneficial psychological and physical well-being of isolation in familiar environments with home care and nourishment.
“It is felt that such cases can now be monitored by a well-established mechanism at home/non-government facilities by call and dedicated telemedicine centres as well as coordination with the caregivers/facility nodal officers, in accordance with the established protocols,” it added.
If required, these patients will be shifted to COVID Hospitals and health facility and COVID Care Centre by means of dedicated ambulances, the notification further said.

“Under the new guidelines, All COVID-19 positive cases, who are asymptomatic/ have mild symptoms and have no co-morbidities in Urban areas including Urban Local Bodies area, district, sub-division and block headquarter towns will be allowed home isolation subject to an assessment of the availability of a separate room and a toilet at the home of the person,” it added.
