Mumbai: Anurag Sinha-helmed ‘Border 2’, a sequel to the 1977 blockbuster war drama ‘Border’, is one of the highly-anticipated films of the year.
Inspired from real-life figures in India’s war history, the film features a gripping ensemble of characters played by Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty and Diljit Dosanjh.
Sunny plays Lt Col Fateh Singh Kaler from the 6 Sikh Regiment. As per reports, Sunny’s character is inspired by Maj
or General Hardev Singh Kler.
Varun plays Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, who was awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his gallantry during the Indo-Pak war of 1971.
Diljit plays Fg Offr Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his solitary defence of the Srinagar Air Base during a Pakistan Air Force air raid in the 1971 India-Pakistan war.
Ahan, who plays Lt Cdr M.S. Rawat from INS Khukri, represents the Indian Navy’s heroic contribution to the war.
Among others, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa and Medha Rana will be seen playing the wives of these brave soldiers.
Adding to the multi-star cast of the film is the cameo appearance of Sunil Shetty and Akshaye Khanna.
Advance bookings of ‘Border 2’ has crossed 1 lakh tickets in 48 hours, outshining other recent releases. The film will hit theatres on Friday.
