Bhubaneswar: Happy over their success in the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2023, candidates from Odisha who cracked the final exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) are of the view that there is no substitute to hard work and perseverance.

Jubilant over securing 39th All India Rank in the exam, Ayushi Pradhan of Odisha said that she managed to significantly improve her position this time due to hard work and systematic preparation. She has secured 231st rank in the CSE exam held in 2022.

Stating that this was her third attempt at the CSE, Ayushi said she had started her preparation for the examination in 2021.

After carefully selecting her subjects for the exam, she took online coaching and did her preparation from home. Already in a job, Ayushi had to plan her schedule for preparation for the CSE carefully to improve her score. “I am happy that three years of preparation helped in immensely to secure a good rank,” she said, thanking her parents and family for encouraging her at every stage.

Expressing similar happiness, Rashmi Pradhan, also from Odisha, said one has to rely on hard work and make proper use of technological advancements to achieve success.

Rashmi, who secured the rank of 319 in the exam in her fourth attempt, said she is already in a job in the railways. She had earlier taken coaching in Delhi for a year.

Regarding her preparation, she said one need not move to places like New Delhi to prepare for the civil services as technology has advanced so much that preparation can be done from any place.

After her failure in previous three attempts, Rashmi made some changes in her strategy to improve her writing skills and went for more mock tests which finally yielded. “We have sufficient resources like online coaching, guidance and mock tests these days. Candidates must make use of these facilities,” she said, adding that one must believe in hard work.

It may be noted here that Animesh Pradhan of Odisha has secured the second rank in the CSE 2023.

Animesh hails from Bhalugadia village in Talcher area of Angul district. He completed BTech in Computer Science and Engineering from NIT-Rourkela in 2021 and was working as information system officer with Indian Oil Corporation Limited.

Apart from Animesh, Prajnanandan Giri and Ayushi Pradhan have cleared the exam and secured 24th and 36th ranks, respectively. Similarly, Abhimanyu Malik has bagged 60th rank, Jayashree Pradhan 52nd rank and Amritanshu Nayak 110th rank. Shubhra Panda, Rashmi Pradhan, Biswajit Panda and Sourav Das, also from Odisha, have secured 204, 319, 343 and 466 ranks respectively.
According to the UPSC, 1,016 applicants passed the test and have been advised to apply for various central government jobs.
